It seems some people never learn no matter how much you tell them. You cannot post photos on a website that has ads just because you got it in an email. If you do use it on a website, you have to leave credit to the owners. If it comes in an email, you probably don’t know the website source or owner so you cannot post it anywhere, especially in a slideshow video for youtube or some other site.
You cannot use music on a youtube video without copyright permission, and if you do have permission, you have to leave credit to the owner.
Youtube now mutes videos with stolen music and they will cancel your account if it is a slideshow with stolen material.
If you go to the store, do you steal a few things while you’re there? Well stealing peoples content, photos, art, cartoons, music and videos is worse than stealing from a store because there is a lot more work put into it.
I put many hours into making my cartoons and I often find websites that post several on their website, many times not even leaving credit and a link to my website. I have even had people remove my name, leave bad links, misspell my name, make money on my cartoons, and this has happened with my photography and art. It makes me sick to my stomach and makes me not want to do any more work. Please don’t steal from artists, it is the same as stealing from the store. It does not matter if there is no name on the picture or if you got it in the email.
This includes text, if you copy a whole page or article, post it somewhere else that is stealing. You should instead only copy a sentence or so and leave a working link to the source. It you make it so people will want to click on the link it is OK, but if you take the whole article and people needn’t go to the source it is copyright theft. If you think stealing from a store is OK, then go ahead and steal from blogs, websites, magazines and books but if you are not a thief then don’t steal from the internet either.
