Lately I have new birds at my window, red winged blackbirds, brown headed cow birds and chipping sparrows. I am getting quite a long list of birds I have seen at my window feeder. On the river I saw quite a few yellow rumped warblers and king fishers.
Thats an idea. It is somewhat water proof and would be a perfect spot.
The squirrels would probably eat it too. My feeder box has nails sticking up every 6" but that doesn't stop a couple squirrels with tough skin.
Those Cow Birds are parasitic. They lay an egg in other birds nest, then sit and watch from a distance. If the bird pushes the strange egg out of the nest, the Cowbird will wait till the bird leaves and then go throw all the eggs out and leave another of their own. When the eggs hatch, the cowbird is larger so it takes out of the food and when room is short it pushes the other chicks out of the nest killing them. I know there is at least a male and female, but I think there is a least two couples.
