This is not the first time I have caught 3 Walleye over 8 pounds in one day on the Mississippi River.
This is a 8 pound Walleye I caught June 2007 on the Mississippi River while trolling wingdams with an electric trolling motor using jigs
and crawlers. I caught three Walleye over 8 pounds that day plus lots of Walleye between 4-6 pounds.
The fish were biting well so I played around trying
different techniques. I was catching fish on wingdams from 6-18 feet, then I thought I'd try casting a small weed patch next to a drop off to 20 feet and
caught an 8 pound Walleye doing that plus a few other big fish.
Then back to jigging and caught another 8 pound Walleye in about 12' plus a lot of other
big fish.
Then it got hot so I put up the umbrella for shade and started trolling crankbaits with my kicker motor. While using my clip-on sinkers I caught
another 8 pound Walleye. One boat came and anchored right there after seeing me catch that fish so I just trolled circles around them a few times and caught
more fish. Most of these fish are on film and in my Big Walleye Big Water DVD.
