Lake Erie 1996 - Page 1

I made two trips in 1996, one in the spring with my wife and another in the Fall with my son. The fishing was good, I caught a ten pound Walleye the first day and released it. We stayed on South Bass in a new resort.

The first photo is the Ferry that brought us there and the second photo is the boat landing at Put-in Bay. Its a crazy place, thats where all the store and attractions are, that is where all the boats dock, and it is packed with people in the summer. The boat landing is right on a busy street, and there is no parking close by unless you get there before sunrise.

This is what it looks like the day before Memorial weekend, it will be packed with boats soon.

This is Perry's Monument. He was a victorious Commander during the War of 1812 and this monument was built in his honor. It is a lighthouse and can always be seen around the Islands. The borders for Lake Erie were drawn then. The Canadian border is just north of North Bass Island. There was a great battle in this area and there is still cannons around Put-in Bay.
