FISHEADTACKLE

Lake Erie 1997 - P1

1997 was a very good 10 day trip to South Bass Island, I caught a lot of big Walleye and one over 11 pounds while using spinner-rigs and clip-on sinkers.

The first few photos are taken on the ferry while leaving Catawba Point near Port Clinton, where we stayed the night in a hotel.

The bottom photo is Put-in Bay, the water was high and dirty. There is no boats but that will change the next weekend as hundreds of boats show up to celebrate opening season for the island, memorial weekend.

The photos above are from on top of Perry's monument. We toured the island that day because it was windy. In fact, the wind was so strong it picked me up off the floor and almost blew me right off of the tower! The tour guide saw that and they soon closed it down.

There was a lot or rain that year and a lot of muddy water. I was finding fish near the clarity breaks, mostly in the cleaner side and that is another reason I wanted to go up on Perry'r Monument, to look around and see what the water was doing. The last day I lost my fish I had located and I was so wore out I had to go back and take a nap. I headed out later to have the time of my life catching huge Walleye.
