Put-in Bay is one of the best places to catch Smallmouth Bass in Lake Erie. There is a boat landing there so there is no need to even start up the motor if one has an electric motor. The tiny downtown and park are right there and it has places to eat, a grocery store, gas for boats, a small park and a few bars. It gets pretty crowded on weekends in the summer because people come from all directions. It is about twenty-five miles from Detroit & Cincinnati and about ten miles from Sandusky & Port Clinton.

The limit of Smallmouth Bass was eight back then because there was so many Bass. That all has changed now and only 6 Bass can be kept and only after June 30.
