Lake Erie 1997 - P5

Lake Erie has the most beautiful red sunsets

Pictured below is Massey's Dock, it has some of the best fall fishing for Walleyes, but expect to share this dock with several other fisherman. There is good fishing nearby for boats at night. Also picture is a boat drifting and casting. Most fisherman on Lake Erie just drift and cast or pull spinner rigs. The charter boats have fisherman cast in all directions and have them count down so that different are covered because fish can be caught in all depths at the same time. One fish might come from 40 feet of water, the next fish in 6 feet near the boat. The average depth of the western basin is about 34 feet. Just out from Massey's dock is some 70 feet depths. Its very deep between Middle and South Bass, probably from the wind causing current. There is also some very shallow reefs so one needs to watch for those red and green markers, they aren't there for looks.
